A CHANGE OF HEART
Simon and Schuster,
First U.S. edition. Translated by Jean Stewart. White quarter-cloth with brick-red paper boards in original dust jacket. A very good copy with a somewhat soiled spine, faint discoloration and minimal foxing to front endpapers and contemporary owner's signature in a very good, lightly rubbed jacket with faint fading to spine, three closed tears along upper edge with tape on verso, small chips to spine ends, light soiling to rear panel.
Butor's seminal work tells the story of a man on his way to join his mistress entirely in the second person. It won of the 1957 Prix Renaudot and became the first major work associated with the Nouveau Roman movement to find a popular audience.
