First edition. Published by MoMA, distributed by MIT Press. Illustrated throughout with black and white and color illustrations, some folding plates. Folio. Navy blue cloth stamped in gilt. Near fine with light wear to edges, fore edge lightly soiled. In a near fine jacket with light shelfwear.

Based on the MoMA exhibit of the same name, following a resurgence of interest in Beaux-Arts architecture in the 1960s. This volume is heavily illustrated with the drawings of the students of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, essential to the instruction at the school. Some went on to design some of the major buildings of the 19th century, including the Paris opera house of Charles Garnier and the Bibliotheque Sainte-Genevieve by Henri LaBrouste.
