TOO LATE THE PHALAROPE

Paton, Alan
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1953.

$ 25.00

First U.S. edition. Green cloth, stamped in blue and yellow. Very good plus with a series of tiny scuffs to front board and a small divot to spine. In an about very good jacket with matching wear on front panel, chipped spine ends, with some paper loss at heel, spine lightly faded, some scant soiling, edges rubbed with shallow chip to rear panel, holographic type-written number on rear flap.

Second novel from the South African writer best known for Cry, The Beloved Country. Paton was an important figure in the fight against apartheid, co-founding the Liberal Party of South Africa in 1953, serving as its Vice President.
